Legomen Galore

Who loves legos?! Besides my husband, I mean...

My now 7 year old boy, that's who! We borrowed this fabulous legoman silicone mold from my bro and sis in law who went to Legoland and bought it there.
I made a lego guy for each set he got for his birthday from us. A lego Clone Trooper...

A knight...

And a policeman.
I think he liked it. :)
In order to frost so many curves, I used a flat/basketweave tip to pipe over the lego guys like they were mummies. Then I froze the cakes again once I frosted them all over. When they were frozen, I took one out at a time and used a tapered cake spatula (that I dunked in hot water and dried lightly on a paper towel) to smooth the mummified dudes. It took a couple of times freezing and working with the frosting, but in the end, it was much easier than trying to get into all the cracks with a spatula and getting frustrated and upset (which I would have done, I assure you).
What tips do you have to share?

Star Wars Card with Yoda (Free SVG)

J.J. went to a birthday party today...and the theme was Star Wars. So glad we're not the only household with a Star Wars obsession. I made a Yoda card for him to give.

And if you so desire, you can create it too with this cut file:

Star Wars Invitation

If you're looking for something way simple to do for a Star Wars invitation, this is it!  It took me very little time (which, I'll admit, I opt for quite a bit).  The font I used was Star Wars Kit.  I also used a font called Forced Reentry for the inside of the card because they had great pictures of some Star Wars characters.  They are both free fonts that you can find on DaFont? I believe.  For the inside, I said this with the pictures.
Invited you are (YODA) to J.J. 5th birthday party.
Speed on over (biker scout on speeder bike) to (our address and time)
And come Luke at our fun! (LUKE)
Don't have a Fett (BOBAFETT)
You won't be Solo! (HAN SOLO)

Star Wars Birthday Cupcakes

Here's the cupcakes I made for JJ's 5th birthday party.  J.J. liked Chewy the best.  All you have to do for him is use the grass tip (you know with all the little holes in it) and do that all over the cupcake.  Then you pipe the eyes, nose, and mouth with a small round tip.  Basically these cupcakes are mostly done just with the round tip and decorated as artistically as you can (by that I mean that you do your best "drawing" the faces, stars, vader, etc).

For the large swirly cupcakes, I just used my largest star tips and went around in a circle with the frosting that I pushed out.  I also made a second circle on top of the first circle, just in the middle to give it some height.  Then, I immediately put on the sprinkles so they would stick to the frosting before the outside hardened.
